Cataract surgery is one of the most successful medical procedures performed today. Dr Sack, based in Melbourne, is a dedicated cataract and refractive surgeon with many years experience and significant expertise in this field.

Dr Julian Sack has over 15 years experience in cataract and refractive surgery, performing hundreds of cataract operations each year. He is one of the few surgeons in Australia performing Implantable Contact Lenses (ICLs) surgery.

Dr Sack obtained his Fellowship in Ophthalmology in 1991 from the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. He moved to Australia to take up a Senior Fellowship position at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital in 1993.

In addition to running a dedicated Cataract and Refractive private practice in Melbourne and regional Victoria, Dr Sack is currently a Consultant at the Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Hospital where he is involved in the training of Registrars. Dr Sack is the treasurer of the RANZCO (Vic) and on the Steering Committee of the Australian Society of Ophthalmology (ASO).

Dr Sack regularly lectures on cataract and refractive surgery to GPs, Optometrists and Pharmacists.

He also regularly presents papers and lectures at ophthalmic conferences and meetings, both nationally and internationally, including the Australian Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. Topics covered include Patient Satisfaction with Multifocal IOLs and Visual Results of the Toric IOL.

Outside of ophthalmology, his interests include marathon running, collecting vintage wristwatches and playing golf (only if the weather is good!)
